Miku Appears at the Ebina City Annual Scarecrow Festival

Every year in rural Ebina City, located in Kanagawa Prefecture, the annual Scarecrow Festival takes place, during which all sorts of unique scarecrows often based off of characters are made and put on display. This year, a Miku scarecrow can be seen among them.

“I came to see the famous Miku-chan”

At these annual Scarecrow Festivals, it’s common for characters and other people who have become popular or well-known in the past year to be made into scarecrows. In past years, we’ve seen Jibanyan from Yo-kai Watch, Elsa from Frozen, and even Godzilla scarecrows at the festival, many of which can be seen snapped and shared on social media.

The Miku scarecrow from this year can be seen clutching a bag full of leeks in her right hand. Propped up nearby are signs that read “Delicious rice for 39” and “Ebina City will make you do the Miku Miku!”, which are sure to draw the attention of people who know Miku well. The scarecrows will stay on display for public viewing until midday of September 19th, so anyone with some time on hand should go check out the Miku scarecrow in person.

“The sheer quality of the Hatsune Miku scarecrow in Ebina is amazing…”

“I came to see the famous Miku-chan.”

“Back side”

“I wonder if Miku-chan is supposed to be gazing at something.”

“Upon closer inspection, I see that Miku-chan is holding a basket of rice balls and leeks.”

“Descending from the rice fields comes the virtual id… scarecrow, Miku-san. She looked awesome, standing 190 cm tall at the center of the paddy fields.”

By the way, this actually wasn’t the first time Miku appeared in the Scarecrow Festial; a Miku scarecrow was also entered in the 2011 festival, where it won top honors.

“The Hatsune Miku scarecrow at the Ebina City Scarecrow Festival was picked to win first prize.”
